Steps
-
Make mash Preheat oven to 200°C. Peel and dice potatoes and carrots. Add both to a pot with a pinch of salt and cover with hot tap water. Cook on high, covered, for about 20 minutes, until very soft. Drain well then mash with milk and a knob of butter. Season to taste. Cover to keep warm.
-
Prep pastry and onion Bring a pot of hot water to the boil. Cut pastry into 4 pieces and place on a lined oven tray. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until puffed and golden. Check regularly to avoid burning. Finely dice onion.
-
Make braised beef Heat a drizzle of oil in a fry-pan on medium-high heat. Cook onion for 3-4 minutes, until golden. Add beef spices and cook, stirring, for 30 seconds.
-
Add water, beef sauce and tomato sauce and bring to a simmer. Stir in beef and simmer gently for 5-7 minutes, until beef is hot and sauce has reduced. Season.
-
Cook veggies Thinly slice courgette. Add with peas to pot of boiling water and cook for about 3 minutes, until bright green and tender. Drain then toss with a knob of butter. Season to taste.
-
Serve mash, braised beef and pastry puff with veggies.
