WithWild combines business, conservation and cuisine, supplying premium wild Wapiti venison from New Zealand’s Fiordland National Park.

Founded in 2020 by a group of renowned Kiwi chefs and food rescue advocates WithWild are on a mission to create valued products from wasted wild ingredients. WithWild offer the supply of high-quality wild venison to retailers across NZ, including more than 40 hospitality and high-end restaurants, while also protecting the local ecosystem that lies within 175,000 hectares of wilderness in the Fiordland National Park.

“Our mission is to create more sustainable models that change the perception around pest control in New Zealand, and aid in preserving our unique flora and fauna for future generations.”

Today, WithWild in partnership with Fiordland Wapiti Foundation and the Department of Conservation have managed to reduce 1500+ wild wapiti from Fiordland National Park, while also contributing funds to support conservation efforts such as predator control to protect endangered species and biodiversity.

“Wapiti is our first project, it’s our crown jewel, but we’d like to expand into other introduced species in other national parks. Ultimately, we want to make a solution out of a problem, and then donate back into the area. For us, there’s no point in doing it if its not making a difference.”

Not only are we supporting the local ecosystem, but WithWild Fiordland Venison comes with great nutrition benefits, too:

  1. Low Saturated Fat Content: Wild venison is a lot leaner than other red meats like beef and lamb which means it’s lower in saturated fat. This is the type of fat we want to minimise in our diet.
  2. Good source of protein: WithWild venison is a good source of protein and contains around 22 grams protein per 100 grams.
  3. Nutrient Density: WithWild venison is a good source of essential vitamins and minerals, including iron, zinc, and B vitamins (i.e. B12, B6 and B3). These nutrients collectively contribute to supporting our overall health and immune function.
  4. Lack of Additives and Processing: WithWild venison is free from hormones, antibiotics, and preservatives like nitrates which are often found in processed meats (sausages, bacon, ham etc).
