As we approach the end of 2023, I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for being a valued customer this year and wish you and your whānau a safe and happy holiday season.
It’s been a significant year for My Food Bag, we invested in a new automated picking system for our Auckland and Christchurch sites aimed at enhancing accuracy and customer experience. This investment also allowed us to increase recipe choice to more than 65 recipes per week across the portfolio. These new recipe choices have included more super-convenient 10- and 15-minute meals, an increase in healthy options, an increase in gourmet options including weekly snapper, as well as seasonal and special occasion meals.
We were very conscious of the rising cost of living during the year and worked hard to minimise price increases and give customers surety of their weekly food bill through freezing our Bargain Box and My Food Bag prices.
Over the year, we successfully delivered 14+ million meals to Kiwis across Aotearoa and continue to closely monitor the feedback from customers on these meals to ensure we are offering NZ’s most loved recipes.
And in 2023, we proudly sourced 98% of our produce and protein from local suppliers. Behind every bag are our long-standing Kiwi suppliers, all contributing to a quality product we are proud to deliver. In fact, grass-fed NZ Beef & Lamb continues to top our recipe ratings – with Sumac-Spiced Butterflied Lamb Leg and Japanese-Inspired Beef Sirloin Steaks ranking amongst our highest rating My Food Bag recipes of the year.
I wish to thank those of you who purchased a Christmas Bag and generously contributed to our donation drive which raised $10,000 for the City Missions across the motu. As well as the food we donate to the City Missions throughout the year, we were delighted to be able to make a financial contribution to support families in need at this time of the year. We will continue to support both the City Missions and Garden to Table in 2024.
Looking ahead to 2024, we will continue to focus on finding ways to further improve our service and convenience as well as delight you with delicious new recipes and premium ingredients. Next year, you can anticipate an increase in the personalisation we offer, and you’ll see new products from us that cater to more occasions.
We’d love to hear more from you about what you’d like to see from us. So please take a moment to share your thoughts and ideas through our very short survey.
Thank you once again and wishing you a very Meri Kirihimete and a safe and happy summer.
Warm regards,
Mark Winter, CEO My Food Bag
